Reconnaissance is delighted to announce that the Tax Stamp & Traceability Forum™ will be returning next year and that the tax stamp community will be able to gather together once again, in person, after what seems like a very long time.
The 2022 event takes place from 16-18 May, in Malta, and the conference’s advisory committee is are now working on the programme, which will include workshops, panel discussions and standalone presentations. To this end, a call for papers has been launched, for which revenue authorities, solution providers, NGOs, academics and industry experts in general are invited to submit a 200-word abstract on a subject of their choice.
In particular, the committee is interested in papers on:
Innovation and emerging technologies for verification, authentication and supply chain security.
Solutions for non-cloneable codes.
Extension of tax stamp programmes beyond the usual tobacco and alcohol, to products such as cannabis, non-alcoholic products, cement, fertiliser, sugar products, fuel marking… and the list goes on.
Success stories in terms of increased tax revenues, decreased illicit trade, increased seizures, or other outcomes, as a result of implementing tax stamp programmes.
How countries that are party to the FCTC Protocol are preparing themselves for the 2023 deadline for implementing secure track and trace systems on tobacco products.
The role of tax stamps within the EU Tobacco Products Directive.
Interoperability between different national systems.
Tax stamps and traceability as part of an overall excise management system.
Market surveillance and point-of-sale monitoring programmes for helping enforcement authorities to identify illicit trade.
Practical considerations for implementing tax stamp and traceability programmes.
Tax stamp specification and tendering.
Design and integration issues.
The future of security printing – for example, will traditional and digital printing techniques continue to be used in combination or will digital printing eventually take over? And is digital printing secure enough?
Independent studies in illicit trade – what is currently available and where are the gaps?
If you are interested in presenting a paper, please send your 200-word abstract by 28 January 2022, to Nicola Sudan (Conference Director) at nicola@recon-intl.com, or use the form at https://taxstamptraceabilityforum.com/call-for-papers/.
